This is why my brain in smush right now

Where have I been! Well... This last week I finished reading Orlando by Virginia Woolf.... and wrote a paper on it. THEN I worked on and finished a researched paper on Beast tales in medieval literature. THEN I wrote a paper for my 3rd Brit Lit class. It was really a draft though. I'm editing it on Sunday to turn in by Wednesday at 6. THEN I have to write a short 2 page paper about what I learned in a class that I actually learned very little in! I took my Spanish final on Wednesday... my foreign language requirement is now complete! Now I only have a final in one of my Brit Lit classes on Tuesday. (I'm taking 3 different Brit Lit classes, all different time periods).

Gaaaaahhhh! I find that the closer I get to finishing my BA, the shorter my attention span gets. I've had a few things I've been working on latley during my mini breaks from school work. The first little (big) project is I've started crocheting 2 blankets. The first one is for Chris and I and the other one is going to be an Xmas present for a lucky pal. Haha I'm only posting pictures of the one I'm working on for Chris and myself. I don't think the "lucky pal" sees my blog, but I don't want to accidentally give it away just in case he might look.

The 2nd little project has been for Strumpets Crumpet's craft swap. With all the school work I had going on I couldn't really sit down and work on it until yesterday. All that's left is packing it up and shipping it! I'll post pictures in a few days because I kinda want it to be a surprise!

Anyhoo, I have quite a bit of cleaning to do today. Happy Friday! xoxo

Fill in the Blanks Wednesday

1.   Fridays are my day off school. Or at least they have been for the last 2 1/2 years. When I'm working after college, I'm going to miss my Fridays. I get to sleep in, stay home (work on homework) and sometimes I get to go out in the evening.

2. Clean sheets, fresh fruit and a good book (all at the same time: eating the fruit in bed with a book), animals, cupcakes and wine make me terribly happy.

3.  Something that inspires me is how the waves wash in and out at the beach. They do it all day everyday without even being asked to. Whether the waves are fast or slow they are consistent and rhythmic and are never unsure of what to do next. To be able to constantly know what to do next without thinking or missing a beat would be great.

4.  If I had the day off today I would start by saying, "Awesome, more time to work on assignments." Then instead of working on homework like I said I would, I would spend half the day diddling around the internet, then play with the cats and ferrets, cook, then go to bed.

5.  If I had to put a label on my home decor style, I would say my style is modern (solid colors.... blacks, whites and a pop of color) but with  quirky touches. A silly picture, an old lamp, cute knick knacks and lots of pictures of my family. That, however is not what my house looks like. My house is cluttered. We collect vinyl toys and while I only buy the ones I absolutely love, it looks as though Chris buys at least one (if not 2) pieces from every series and artist. Then, for some reason we have to save the boxes. Open any of our closets and you will see stacks of boxes. I wish our linen closet was a normal one, then I would have more room in my closet.

6.  Concerning politics I would say I'm most fun to ask this when I've had a few adult beverages. I don't particularly like politics because everyone's opinion is better than the next's. Honestly, I don't care about others' opinions on politics and when I do, I ask them.

7.  I'd like to go camping more often   so I could/can breath all the fresh air that I'm alloted before I die. I would also just like some peace and freakin' quiet. Earplugs aren't cutting it anymore.

Ps I've given up on properly spacing these numbers. Every time I 'save' it still reverts back to wonky.

Cadbury Egg Hunt!

Mmmmm.... Oh, hai! Just me. Oh, that stuff on my face? Just chocolate. When I came home from  school last night Chris surprised me with an egg hunt. As the title suggests, it was a Cadbury egg one. Mmmmm I was so excited! I love chocolate, and this reminded just how sweet Chris really is. One could even say sweeter than chocolate... Here's where I found them!

This was the first egg! On the book shelf!

The second egg... In the bedroom on my night stand.

The 3rd... my desk!

The last one was tricky. I even asked the girls. (Ferrets love small shiny objects. Mine are no exception.)

Found it! 4th egg! I was staring at it almost the whole time!

 It was behind Herbie!

Fun! Now, back to nom-nommin' my eggs. Have a great Friday-eve! xoxo

Fill in the Blanks Wednesday!!

1.   My favorite daily responsibility is making sure all of my critters have food and water... and hugs and kisses! That includes Chris too!

2.  My least favorite daily responsibility is getting out of my nice warm bed.

3.  My favorite cuisine to eat when going out is Sushi!

4.  My favorite cuisine to prepare at home is Ooooh toss up! I love making cottage pie, but I also love cooking Italian meals, as there are tons of vegetarian options.

5.  Andy Warhol said that everyone is famous for 15 minutes. My claim to fame is going to depend on who you ask. It may be "the girl who drank so much Rumplminz she ruined Erich's bathroom for a night"...or... The time I had an "accidental discharge" with a non-lethal bean bag round. (I was called Shotgun Sally for awhile afterwards)...etc, but I truly hope it is for something awesome I do in the future.

6.  If I could have 3 wishes I would wish for a job that I really love (after college, of course), to never have any financial worries and when I die, to go quickly and painlessly (Sorry, that's morbid. Think about it, the more you suffer in pain, the more your loved ones suffer knowing you are in pain and they can't help you).

7.  My biggest pet peeve is Excuse me!? Please don't interupt me while I'm speaking! Also, if you must interrupt me, check yourself. I hate bad grammar.

To USF and back

Holy cow! I decided to bike to school yesterday and it went well. I guess. It's a little more than 6 miles each way, so I logged about 12.5 miles when I finally got home for the day.
I had to stop about 1/2 way through on the way to school because I was feeling faint. Duh! I didn't eat! I arrived in exactly one hour. My legs were jelly walking up the stairs. haha
The ride home however was smooth sailing. I made it home in 50 minutes! Until after the first mile I felt like calling Chris and asking him to come fetch me. My ass literally hurt! The seat on the bike is like sitting on a fence. But.... I stuck it out.
I'm incredibly proud of myself and as gas prices rise I see myself repeating this adventure.
Can you believe I used to run 2 miles in 16 minutes flat?! I'll get there again.

Ps my hind quarters still hurt, but I feel pretty darn good.

More from the zoo!

I really love goats! This one was so sweet too. In case you're wondering, I did kiss the goat. I'm not dead yet! Also this fruit bat thing is actually right side up. You just have to take the picture upside down, or flip it on the computer to make it look like you're really hanging with the bat.

Check out my previous post for more of my day at the zoo.

Zoo day (eeeek!)

Yesterday Chris and I took a trip to the Lowery Park zoo in Tampa. It was my first time there. Every time I go to a zoo or Animal Kingdom I just about lose my mind, I <3 animals! I always seem to learn at least a dozen new facts (numbered and in bold, don't laugh) and most of the time they are such common knowledge that Chris gets a big laugh explaining them to me. I also make mini discoveries on my own. You'll see:

1st, I forgot my phone and didn't realize it until we were about 1/2 way there. I never forget my phone. I've had a phone attached to my ear since middle school. My Daddy even made a sign for my door that had a phone on it and said "Jenny's life-support system." It's ok, I can live without the phone for the day. Right?

2nd, you need a memory card in the camera to take pictures. I took the memory card out to dump pictures onto the laptop and forgot to put it back. I also switched purses before we left and didn't put the spare memory cards in the new purse.

So, me at a zoo and no way to take pictures of all the little (and big) animals I fell in love with! Chris always saves the day with his mad photo skillz.

I love giraffes. That faint squealing noise you heard around 2 pm yesterday? That was me. I was so excited! It was louder in Tampa.

3rd, some birds can swim underwater. Not all of them, just some. I was amazed that birds could swim at all! Then I remembered that ducks existed. Haha

4th, Boy turkeys need all those pretty feathers because their faces are really ugly. Also, this just in! Turkeys can fly! Who knew?! Well, everyone but me.

5th, Flamingos sound like Tauntauns.

6th, Manatees can't breathe under water. (Hush)

I also really love otters. I zipped around the otter enclosure until I found them all sleeping in a log. There were a few girls standing next to me looking for them too. When I pointed them out to them I said, "They're right here, I have otter-vision." They looked at me with their dumb teenage girl faces that said, (very lazily and half-asleep) "Whaatt??"  (I don't remember having that face, I was always high on coffee).

While I was at the Sting Ray tank (petting them of course) I heard a little girl tell her dad, "Sting Rays look like Meerkats a little bit." If she were about 20 years older I think I would have found my new best friend/partner in crime/drinking bud.

Other animals I fell in love with were

  • Tapirs (aka, "panda-pigs)

  • Reeve's Muntjac's (they're so cute! They also have long long tongues and are so cute when they run.)

  • Singing dogs (I howled with them for a few minutes. We're cool now.)

  • Okapis (They're the one s that are related to giraffes but are zebra-shaped and have stripes.)
Have a lovely Saturday... I'll be working on a research paper!

Crazy things my professors say...

Tonight in class, it occurred to me that the teaching staff at USF St. Pete is way more humorous than the staff at St. Pete College (I went there for my AA). If the SPC teachers are funny, I never saw it.

So here goes:

Bible as Lit, Dr. W suggests we all watch Dogma because Alan Rickman is in it and it's really funny. He also throws in as a side note that Silent Bob is in the film as well, and it also "very funny."

Brit/Irish Lit, Dr. W (different than above) makes hilarious references to the movie Office Space when talking about how long essays should be at the minimum. At the beginning of the semester in each class (this is the 3rd class of his I've taken) he says, "Don't get caught wearing the minimum flair!" He compares page count to flair. Haha silly.

Yesterday he compared Nine Inch Nails to the superior/ inferior thoughts in "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock." I zoned out a little, but it was something along the lines of that insecure feeling conveyed through some of the NIN lyrics and Prufrock's thoughts.

Brit Lit, Dr. R. has suggested all different sights to see in England throughout the semester. Poet's Corner, Wordsworth's home, 221 Baker St....yadda yadda. Tonight she says (in a very up-beat tone) "There is also a night tour that you can go on in London where you are taken to a several spots where Jack the Ripper killed women." *awkward silence + crickets* Then lots of laughing. You could tell she was in a moment and it was hilarious! She's so fun. (I'm taking one of her classes in the Fall, too).

Also, while talking about "The Lady of Shalott" she was very excited to talk about Lancelot, almost like he was a literary crush. Don't hate, everyone has one.

Brit Lit, Dr.C haha where to start! One day he did a really great Obi-Wan impression. "These aren't the droids you're looking for" from A New Hope.

There are more, my brain just has water on it right now. So, goodnight! xoxo

Fill in the Blanks Wednesday!

1.   Something that makes me a great friend is, that I do know how to shut up (I talk a lot) and just listen.

2.  I am a perfectionist.

3.  I am not always the easiest person to get along with. Sometimes I'm moody.

4.  If I had to describe myself in 3 words, they would be silly, smart, aggressive

5.  Something I'm really cheap about is clothing. I'm such a cheap-skate. I like to think of it as getting the most bang for my buck. I do not however buy bad clothes. Just because it's cheap, doesn't make it worthy of my closet.

6.  Something I'm willing to splurge on is something that I know will get a lot of use. Also, a really cute dress. It isn't very often that I find a dress that I love, and I love dresses!

7. I would trade my favorite, best fitting jeans  for long hair in a heartbeat.

Have a great Wednesday!

Cat-acrobatics

Ok, Cinque was cute again this morning! This is how he turns himself around (every time) on the window sill.

Cat+box=fun!

Last night when we were shutting out lights and going to bed, Cinque decided to be extra cute. He hopped into the empty Land Shark box in the kitchen!

Then I tried to put Cheetara in the box. It didn't work.

Then I tried the box on!

Now, onto today's plans... being lazy and doing homework.

Saturday night's alright for...

Wow! I can't believe it's Saturday night already! We were going to go see 3Oh!3 this evening at USF Tampa, but I fell asleep and Chris is terrified of waking me up haha. Good thing it was a free show. I really wanted to see Stalling Dawn. They were opening for 3Oh!3. Oh, well. Next time!

Two of the Blockbusters in our area are closing so today and yesterday we went to check out the deals. Yesterday we picked up a blue ray controller for our PS3 for only $1! Then tonight we picked up 3 games for 2 of our game systems for $90 total. Sweet! Two of the games were even new releases.

The best part of today was just being able to lounge around and watch tv in bed. Oh and catching grasshoppers outside for our lizards dinner. We have 7! (There will be a post soon in the Fur babies series about our no fur-havin' babies)

Anyhoo, goodnight and Happy Saturday night! xoxo

Movie night!

Hooray! After Chris came home from work today we picked up some sandwiches from Jimmy  Johns and hit the beach for sunset. Well, we didn't stay to watch the sunset. There were still a lot of people there and the sea gulls were insane. I got dive bombed and the stupid bird's feet touched my face. I have the willies just thinking about it. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm terrified of birds. I won't even touch them! I will obviously touch feathers, as long as they are not attached to a bird and there are no birds in sight. I also don't have issues with drawings of birds, I just don't like real live birds. This is just one of the little monsters that was eye-balling us:
Annnnnyhoo. Like I said, it's movie night. We aren't extreme coupon-ers or anything but we got a really sweet deal on the original Tron and the new one. Yes, we had a coupon. Hush. We bought the 4-disk set and the original one on blue-ray and only spent $32. Go us! Have a great night! xoxo

Fill in the Blanks Wednesday!

1.   The best prank I ever pulled was ...hasn't been pulled yet! One day I will definitely pull the ultimate, but until then my favorite little one was how I wrapped a few things at christmas this year. I wrapped Chris's Mom's Ghirredelli cocoa can inside of a larger Wal-mart cocoa can. Haha and his Dad's favorite jelly beans inside of an empty tea carton. Oh, my sides ache!

2.  The best prank ever pulled on me was probably so bad that I still don't know it happened. I don't usually get pranked.

3.  A day without at least one laughing fit that leaves my abs crying  is a day wasted. I've been wasting a lot of days lately.

4.  The most important things in life are the little things. So cliché, I know. BUT cats and ferrets are little. The words "I love you" are little and time is short, therefore it is also little. So, the little things like having people who love you around (cats and ferrets totally count) make life livable.

5.  I dream of living up to my own standards of happiness, even though they are ridiculously unreal. Also, finishing college and having a posh job that all I have to do is sit and look pretty would be great.

6.  I dread research papers.

7. A discovery I made this week was..... Here's the deal. I'm a "blonde." I don't have blonde hair, but occasionally my brain slips into that typical blonde (stereotype) mentality. I'm not saying all people with blonde hair are dumb, they aren't. So every week there is a new discovery. More recently I discovered that the white inside of a Cadbury egg is the "white" and the strange orange part that I never knew if it was supposed to taste like orange or not was really just the "yolk."

Anthropologie Give-A-Way!

Everyone loves give aways and who doesn't swoon at the mere thought of Anthropologie?

Over at The Colorful Living Project a give away just like this is happening. Note: I am not giving anything away except knowledge... for now.

Simply go to The Colorful Living Project blog and read the entry rules. They're very easy. Also if you mention that you were referred by me, we will both get an extra entry! This give away is good for international folks too!

Flower & Garden (take 1)

After the Magic Kingdom we popped over to Epcot. Our plan was to ride Test Track and say hi to Chris's brother. Well, we didn't make it on any rides but we did see a lot of the Flower and Garden Festival. We plan on going back again to see everything in the daylight. Here are a few pictures I snapped before the light faded. Warning: The pictures aren't great.

My favorite part of the evening (besides spending it with Chris) was the Twining's tea garden. I just wanted to walk through with my tea cup and make my own blend! All of the little plants were planted in tea cups and all of the flowers smelled amazing.

Hooray for Disney World!

Yesterday Chris and I left for Disney around noon-ish. We decided to go to Magic Kingdom first and as soon as we got there we rode Thunder Mountain. Chris doesn't like roller coasters, but is such a trooper that he tried out Space Mountain and Thunder Mountain a month or so ago. So far he hasn't made any plans to go back on Space Mtn. These are a few of the pictures I took yesterday. I didn't bring a regular camera with me because I didn't feel like carrying it. I used the instagram app on my iPhone instead. Find me, I'm Hellosundae on instagram. See if you can figure out where some of these were taken! There are a few obvious ones...

Ps. The rays of sun in the 2nd photo weren't created by the filter, the sunshine was great yesterday!

Happy Sundae!

Mmmm I think I may have just figured out what to make for dinner tonight!

Happy 119th birthday to the sundae.

About last night...

I changed my mind, dad-gum-it! A birdy suggested I go to the Jet Reception anyway. For the the free booze if nothing else. It was fun. There were less cars there than last year and I think they tried to compensate by parking bigger jets in the hanger. Haha.

It was still a good time.... until I fell. Boooo. I got my heel caught in a metal grate and went down. Surprisingly, nothing got bruised except my pride. I fell in front of the all carbon fiber Bugatti (I just slobbered on my keyboard thinking about that car again!) Let me just inform everyone: I was not drunk or even close to it. I only had about 1 glass of wine up until then. The pours were on the small side (except the one after the fall, I thought I was going to get the whole bottle!) I simply got up, brushed myself off and laughed about it for the rest of the evening. I was curious how much my dress flew up though. I asked Chris what color my undies were... he was clueless which makes me believe that no one else saw that much either! Huzzah!

This was the giant jet they tried to fill space up with.  Haha
Mmmm Peroni
This bike was painted with all kinds of crazy scenes  that reminded me of Art History class.

Here's a photo of the yummy Bugatti from Miami in November.

Enough about cars though! I'm going to Disney today!!! Have a happy saturday!
