Work Buds

I work with some really awesome ladies (and a few awesome guys). One of those ladies had a birthday this past Saturday, so I made her a camera! I used the same pattern from craft night a few weeks ago and I switched up the colors a bit. Here's Miss Emily with her very own camera:
Isn't she gorgeous!? Happy birthday, doll! I busted out a few vintage buttons from my collection  for this little project.

Have a super weekend!

Sister Sister

My sister came to visit this weekend. We hadn't seen each other in 2 years and have way too much to catch up on. One weekend is not enough. We went to Taco Bus in St. Pete for dinner on Friday evening and I shared a Mexican coke with my nephew. I missed him so much and I was just so thrilled that he even sort of remembered me that when he slobbered all over the bottle, I didn't mind. My sister of course set the tone of the weekend when she squirted verde sauce all over herself and the table.

Saturday we headed to Tampa for a bit of shopping. We hit Westshore first, then went over to International. My nephew brought along a camera to document the excursion.
We walked into Lush because I always do and also because Cindy had never been in one, much less heard of the store. We found ourselves in the back corner trying to figure out what the heck they were selling hardened blocks of shit for. Well, as it turns out they do not sell hardened blocks of shit. They sell henna and call it "caca." We asked about it and the really sweet sales girl explained the whole bit. We were sold.

(Cindy and I dye our hair red because it feels more natural than what grows out of our heads. I had redder hair when I was little and my natural color is browinsh-red. She's a honey blonde. As red-heads, we stop planets from spinning.)

We bought the Caca Rouge and went to work on it that night. I'll do a post about it because it is too hilarious for this post. Anyhoo, look out for the post when I tell you about 2 girls, 1 bathtub (that was one of our gut-busting jokes). Have a fab Tuesday!

Be mine?

Happy Valentine's Day friends! I wanted to share what I sent to Rachel for the Oh! Strumpets Valentine's craft swap.
Yep, I made her one of these. I had another craft already finished when then this idea came along. Everyone likes cameras, perhaps more than a heart bunting. What did you do for Valentine's Day?

Smile :)

So, I've obviously been missing from the blogging world but there were a few blogs that I did keep up with. My favorites. Well, since I've been back I've kept up with them even better but a few slipped through the cracks. This one and this one. Yep. My Girl Thursday and Love Elycia. Their posts were announcing a craft night and the materials we would need for last night. I saw the reminder posts for craft night late yesterday evening and panicked. I wanted to do this project but I didn't have half of the materials! Well, since I'm a clever girl I decided to just go with what I had. I used grey jersey, blue corduroy, a little velvet and some pink felt. I ran it all through the sewing machine but the next one I make there are parts I think I'd rather hand-sew. With Valentine's Day approaching (a little more than 2 weeks!) I decided to put a heart on the lens. The first one I made was for Chris. He loves cameras. He's a photographer and actually just had a camera tattoo done yesterday. I'm very proud of the work he has done and I'm so thankful that Chantilly and Elycia posted this awesome sewing project!

{clearly my embroidery could use some work}

Anyhoo, here are the links to take a look at if you want to make one too. I wasn't able to make it for the video stream, so I missed how it was supposed to go together exactly but I went with my gut and it worked out (big sentence over).

Craft night video (the how to). It's about 2 1/2 hours long!

I can't read numbers!

How about that! I spend all my time reading, reading and reading beautiful works of literature and I can't read a stinkin' number! When I ordered the cockateil feathers I didn't read the description completely. I read the words and skipped over the numbers! I received two of them (that part I got right) but I was expecting them to be at least twice the size they are... 1 7/8" inches! Not even 2 inches!

The first thought that came to my silly head was, "Dang! That bird must be a teacup bird or something!" Then I remembered birds are teacup sized anyway. Hahaha

I'd google the bird to see how big they are but I don't feel like giving myself the willies over it. (Birds,  eeeck!) I just always thought those big, scary birds they have out at the pet stores were cockateils.

Oh, well. The tiny feathers are still usable! Then, I ripped open the other package that came in today thinking it had my macaw feathers in it (and I would be ecstatic because that means they were shipped earlier than expected) and there was a stinkin' camera strap. Not for me! Anyhoo, back to work! I'm starting a paper on Shelley's Frankenstein and one of Blake's poems.
