Fill in the Blanks Monday

1.   If I could get away somewhere for the weekend I would go to Key West. I haven't been in almost 10 years and I really need to make it back down there and I would bring Chris because we've been talking about it for forever.

2.  Something I often rant about is people or Chris doing things "wrong." They might be completely fine and ok to everyone else, but I have OCD so some things have to be done my way.

3.  One item I need to have in my fridge at all time is cheese. I love cheese and even though I shouldn't eat it I still do sometimes.

4.  My "life-saving" product is lip balm or gloss. I'm a lip-biter.

5.  A friend is someone who "gets you." I like friends but I'm learning to attach myself to people, let alone more than one person at a time. Also I'm pretty introverted and like my space. I'm still looking for people who get me...

6.  If I could write my own blank it would be "As a kid, what was your favorite cartoon?" I loved My Little Pony.

7.  My favorite kind of art is is anything someone puts their heart into. If you don't love your art and what you are doing...it's gonna show! I love the refrigerator art my sister sends me from my nephew, but I also love paint and photography. I plan on mixing the 2 sometime.

Backyard BBQ

I love love love live music. I also love nice sunny days. Yesterday was just a little too sunny though (I ended up with a burned chest and burned feet. I missed a lot with the sunscreen!)

Chris and I rode our bikes downtown to Vinoy Park for the concert put on by my favorite radio station. Every Memorial Day weekend they put together a bunch of awesome bands and a few up and coming locals bands and the rest of us get to rock out! This year the concert was........free.

Some of the bands were AWOLnation, Sick Puppies, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Panic! at the Disco and The Airborne Toxic Event. I was really looking forward to seeing Panic! but The Airborne Toxic guys and gal stole the show. This was the first time I'd seen them live and I think I have a new favorite band...

Just look at this guy! He climbed up the stage!

Anyhoo....remember the last show I went to and the good, bad and ugly fashion I reported back? Here we go again!

  • As we all know, when the temperature goes up clothes come off, but please wear a bra or a bikini top under your tank top. I really don't want to see sagggggy nipples. I understand some girls are tiny enough to get away without a bra. I'm speaking to the ladies (myself included) who know they need a little support.

  • While we're on the subject. Men! Please wear a shirt! Or wear pasties, that would be hilarious. Or tassels. Ok I'll stop haha

  • Have you ever seen someone wear a bra under her bikini top? I never had until yesterday. The girl wasn't even so super busty that she needed the extra lift. I mean a regular ol' bra under a triangle halter bikini. weird.

  • I have never seen so many teensy girls wearing giant shirts that they were hanging off so badly that they may as well have not been wearing the shirt at all! I saw more bras yesterday than I did the whole time I worked at Victoria's Secret! Also, does everyone know how a bra should fit? Clearly not haha. Someday soon I need to do a bra post. They are kinda near and dear to me.

  • Again, guys pull up your pants. They only underwear I'm interested in seeing are mine and my guy's... in private. Isn't that why it's called underwear anyway? They're supposed to be under your pants. Undies cover private parts, so let's keep our undies private too!

  • I said this last time and I hate even bringing it up. Dear Curvy girls, I understand you want to be as comfortable as the half naked twigs running around. There are ways of doing this and not looking like trash! Wear something comfy, but don't forget coverage! I'm definitely not a twig, I wore a pair of khaki shorts that fit well with a airy blue sleeveless top. The only skin sticking out was the legs out of the bottom of the shorts and the arms and chest from the top of my shirt. I don't like looking at half naked sweaty, skrawny girls, the same goes for sweaty,  half naked thick girls. Again, please don't be offended. That's not my goal. It took me years to realize that a size is just a number. A silly, silly number. It's what's on the inside that matters.

  • There were soooooo many cute dresses out there yesterday. And hats and sandals. I wish the 2 sewing machines in my kitchen would work!

  •  Speaking of sandals.... ever been to an outdoor concert in a park? Everyone's feet were filthy! Haha. There was so much dirt in out shower after we got out of it yesterday! good times...

  • Also, there were loads of cute homemade cut up tops. Look out for a tutorial!

Ka-Pow!

Ok, another kick-ass girl picture!

This one was slightly different.

For a few more click here.

Crazy amounts...

...of talent!

My boyfriend is Superman with a camera. Usually cars are more his thing when it comes to hitting the shutter button, but once in a while he takes a detour.

Look what we did today!

For more of his work check out brut-photography.com

In pictures...

These are the hi-lites from this last week!

Chris and I got new bicycles! (Mine is the yellow one.)

We got a few new toys...! (I didn't take pictures of all of them, but we also got the marshmallow, the bomb, the egg one, and the cheese one from the BFF series. We also picked up a few DIY munnies.)

Chris and I spent a little time downtown today. You know, checkin' out the art scene. We picked up some of the toys mentioned above. I also bought a really cute shirt. I'm going to have to alter it because it is way too big.

Walking around downtown we saw a cute little robot drawn in chalk on the side of Daddy Kool records.

I did my first guest post and giveaway!

How picture-perfect was your week?

I heart Cinque

This is the patch I wore for most of the time while I was in the army....

Looks familiar....

Fill in the Blanks Monday

1.   People always tell me I look like I'm mad or pissed off. I think this question is really who is my celebrity look-a-like though... So the guy at Best Buy said I look like Judy Garland.... I've even heard Katherine Heigl. I like to think I look like me.

2.  Friends don't let friends date jerks or walk around with something in their teeth or wear really bad clothes. If your friend needs a wardrobe update, tell her! For that matter, if you think I need one tell me!

3.  A sunny day is perfect for going to Disney or the beach.

4.  My favorite accessory is my watch. I like to know exactly what time it is, not what time someone else tells me. I hate when people round up. That is not what I asked for!

5.  If I could afford it I would have a full wine rack.

6.  The cure for boredom is cats. Get those crazy critters wound up and be prepared to laugh!

7.  I am currently "in like" with a lot of different things. I'm not much of a "phase" person. I can't really pick one thing in particular.

Funny picture

I just found this picture from the beginning of March and thought I'd share it.

Don't you just hate when this happens?

I spill lots of stuff in my cups holders. It's almost a daily occurrence! This was the morning I was shooting the Honda Grand Prix indie car and the president of HGP and his posse. It was raining and miserable, but at least this made me laugh.

Have a great rest of the day and I hope your Monday isn't a "spilled drink in the cup holder" kinda day!

Stuff I learned this week

Whoops! I started writing this post earlier, but a few adult beverages got in the way. Now that I've had a little fire water I shouldn't make ANY TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS right? Haha, no I'm such a stickler that this post will be triple checked before being published.... even if I have to do it with one eye clamped shut. Haha (the tipsy hahas are coming out!) Alright onto the things I learned! Actually, these should be called observations...anyhoo!

There weren't many because I'm a genius....! errrr....
  • It is SO nerve wracking to raise your hand and speak in a class on the first day. I'm the dork that sits in the front row with lots to say. You can't see the board because my hand is in the way. I am the Rachael Berry of literature. There were only a few people in my class on Monday who I recognized from the last 2 semesters, otherwise I would have felt more comfortable.

  • Mr. Mackey (from South Park) is my beginning to 1860 American Lit. professor. No seriously. The more I look at DR. H, the more he looks like him too. He really is passionate about the subject and time period he teaches so he's awesome in my book. He says "M'kay" a lot and has a hilarious laugh.

  • I hate how baby powder smells on grown women. I love how it smells on babies. Ladies please consider powder that doesn't make you smell like a sour baby.

  • The Wasteland is a really deep poem (and relate-able for me on so many levels that I was having flash-backs in class). If Eliot were alive today I would hug him and buy him a pint.

  • 13 mile round-trip bike rides hurt my arse. I need a bigger, squishier, laz-e-boy style bicycle seat. I rode the bike to and from school on Tuesday and Wednesday, the trip is a 6.47 miles one way. I feel awesome after the ride, but an hour after I get home I collapse on the bed. Defeated. I plan on riding to and from school at least 2 days a week, so it should get easier. On the second day I shaved almost 10 minutes off the time it took me to get to school!

  • The semi-colon  ";" is dying. Apparently a lot of people don't use it anymore, and even more people don't know how to use it. I plan on making a "Barney-style" post about our friend the ";" because  as a lit major, I use it!

  • I am an awesome owl-doodler. I doodle when I'm bored and sometimes when a poem has been torn apart down to it's ribs I get bored.
  • Rick Astley was so cute. (I've known this for a long time, just throwing this out there).
I know I had more discoveries this week, but at the moment they are lost. Stay tuned for part 2 and so on!

Fill in the Blanks Monday

1. If  I had to use 3 words to describe why I am undoubtedly a  Jones they would be  smart, silly and creative.

2. Something that happened to me in life that initially seemed bad but turned out to be good was NOT getting back together with my high school sweetheart. Ask my sister, that was a rough time. Then I learned how much of a jerk he was. I was too upset that the "door" had closed to watch for the ones that opened. When I figured out how dumb I was being I found my forever.

3.  Something I inherited from my mom is  my legs. My nose and also my general lack of ass.

4.  Something I inherited from my dad is  my brains, love of tattoos and well, all the good stuff.

5.  My goal for this summer is to shed some of my winter hibernation weight and pass my summer classes!

6.  The best thing about this week is that summer classes are starting. The sooner they start, the sooner they will be over. Then just 2 more semesters to go!

7.  Something I couldn't give up if I tried is  talking. I just can't shut up.

Sidewalk Quotes

Walking around the Botanical Gardens we saw these quotes on the sidewalks and I loved them so much that I thought it was necessary to share!

My favorite is the D. H. Lawrence quote. Which is yours?

Florida Botanical Gardens

On Thursday Chris and I had to get out of the house so we went for a drive. We drove down the beach a ways, past Indian Rocks Beach and ended up on Walsingham Rd in Largo... or was it Seminole? Anyhoo, we turned into the Botanical Gardens which are right next door to Heritage Village. I saw Heritage Village on a local tv station and since then I've been wanting to visit. We decided to save it for another day and walk around the gardens instead. It was a beautiful day to just stop and smell the roses. I can promise that I smelled lots of flowers, including roses. Sadly none of the rose photos turned out nicely. We were both caught with our "pants down" errr... rather without our cameras. We went out for a drive without knowing where we'd end up! Those are always the best times. The following pictures are from my iPhone 3G (I'm hoping to upgrade this summer....saving my pennies!)

[gallery order="DESC"]

Since there were so many picture that I just had to share, I put them in a gallery. To make them bigger,  just click! I have one more post for this trip!

Yesterday was Thursday...

I hope everyone has a safe and productive day today!

My first blanket!

My sister and I were taught how to crochet at a very young age. We thought we were so cool. Looking back, we were! We were probably 7 or 8 years old and took our crocheting with us everywhere. Cindy and I had our own popcorn tins in the living room to store our yarn, hooks, needles and plastic canvas. Our Aunt Julie even made us "yarn dispensers" out of oatmeal tubes with holes poked in the lids.

Alas, we never finished anything we started. There were tons of little bits of 6-8 inch long single crochet pieces of I don't know what in the bottom of our tins. I don't remember all of Cindy's, but I know mine never got any bigger than 8x10 inches. I used to get bored with the color or I'd get a tangle in the yarn. I left it in the skein instead of rolling it into a ball back then. Whoops!

It wasn't until about 2 months ago I started having dreams that I was crocheting. I fixed that like I fixed the cigarette smoking dreams a few years ago (tried it , gagged....dreams are gone! Our 'mother' smoked like a chimney around us growing up). I went to Michael's, bought some yarn and a hook and got to work. I learned the art of the granny square from Becky at Stumpet's Crumpets and I haven't stopped since. Here are pictures of my progress, all the way up to the finish on Monday night!

Teapots and toys

Today has been pretty good! It started out way too early though. I had to have some blood work done. My appointment was at 830am, but I got in early and was home by 830. I snuggled back into bed for a little... ok.... a lot. It's technically my summer break so it's ok. For lunch/dinner Chris and I went to the Taco Bus in St. Pete. I had the vegan tempeh quesadilla. YUM. Afterwards we went to Daddy Kool for a few new toys. We each bought a BFF blind box.

I got the cupcake!!!! It was exactly the one I wanted. This was not the first time I got exactly what I wanted out of a blind box! Chris got the little hamburger one.

After Daddy Kool we decided to pop into Goodwill, just to have a look. I picked up a corning ware casserole dish and these:

I'm a little sad that I couldn't find the last one, but at least I was lucky enough to find the ones I did... at .75 cents each!

Then we went over to the other Goodwill, not to find the other measuring cup, but just to see what was what. I found this super awesome teapot. It is in great shape and adorable.... $3.

Also, last night I finished the blanket I've been working on. I'll post pictures later. Happy Monday! xoxo

Fill in the Blanks Monday

Alright, I know this used to come on Wednesdays, but I'm regrouping. Hang on tight!

1.   What I love most about my home is that after a long day I can lock the doors and be alone...with Chris, the cats and the ferrets. I don't have to let anyone else in that I don't want to!

2.  I'm excited because, I have one more week before all the craziness of summer classes begins.

3.  My preferred method for blowing  off steam when I'm frustrated is slamming stuff until I find chocolate or (again) slamming the front door and taking a walk. It happens quite a bit, I have a short fuse.

4.  Currently I am craving a Caprese sandwich form Mazzaro's.

5.  The thing I love most about my mom is that she is not part of my life.

6.  If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be on the back, and you would read it back to front like manga. Haha how fun would that be!?

7.  If I were to eat one thing for the rest of eternity it would be either Caprese sandwiches form Mazzaro's or Caprese salads from Earl of Sandwich.

Mother's Day...

I don't have anything fun or special to say about today, other than if you're an awesome mom I hope you have an awesome day. If you aren't an awesome mom 1) go to the store 2) buy some aspirin 3) take one out and hold it between your knees. Now please don't let go of it! Yes. I have mommy issues.

One mom I think deserves a bit of honoring today is my sister. Cindy had a little something to say about today that I think sums it up! Go check out her blog, it's new!

Happy Mother's day to some..... Happy Birthday to others and for the rest of us? Happy un-Mother's- birthday to you! xoxo

Twining's Tea Garden at Epcot

I saved this post for last because tea is my absolute favorite. In England at Epcot they have a tea garden set up across from the Rose and Crown Pub (I had my lunch there... fish and chips). Here are pictures of all the tea!

Pomegranate Delight

Lemon Grass

Earl Grey (my favorite!)

Pure Chamomile (Chris kept saying I needed a cup of this one, I was being a jerk)

China Oolong

Pure White

Mixed Berry

Ta-da! I hope everyone has enjoyed my photos from Epcot! I loved seeing the Flower and Garden festival again, especially since it was daylight this time. If you ever have a chance to go, jump on it! It is gorgeous. Also, the Food and Wine Festival is fun too, pricey but fun. I have a ton and a half more pictures from our many trips to Walt Disney World and maybe someday I'll do a post for each park.

Flowers and Fairies

These were also from Epcot yesterday. Flowers, fairies and even a butterfly garden!

These guys were in the butterfly garden
Fairies!
Tinker Bell
Flowers
I'll have one more installment in for the Flower and Garden Festival in a little. It will be from the Twining's tea garden.
