Disney Magic

It's been a while since I've posted anything from our Disney trips, hasn't it? We haven't gone nearly as much because of school and work, but we still go at least once a month. I haven't had the time (still) to go through memory cards and look at real photos, so here are a few fun instagrams in the mean time!

I really like the instagram app, but I've been starting to play around with other apps, too. I ran the sorcerer Mickey photo through a different app first and then applied another filter to it in instagram. Have a great Sundae!

No Blanks

Hey friends, I don't have blanks lined up for today. Lauren is a new mama and I can understand why some of her regularly scheduled posts have gone to the wayside lately. I say, "good for her!" The blanks will be here when she has posted prompts. In the mean time, you get to read my babble. Ready?

We gave the kitten a proper burial yesterday evening. It was sad and there was not a single dry eye between the two of us. He was buried facing the east at the foot of the biggest tree in our yard.

Spring Break is officially over. It will be the last one for me unless I teach or go back to grad school. Both are way up in the air. I did get some much needed time in at the beach. Now I remember why I have stayed in Florida, especially so close to the coast. I will be going to my sandy spot much more often, even if it's only for an hour or two. No matter how noisy it is there, I can clear my head. The sun came out an hour after I took this photo.
Like I said, I will be spending more time here.

This weekend is the Honda Grand Prix so it will be a little busy around here. Chris is covering the race and I will be driving him back and forth so he doesn't have to worry about parking. Guess who won't be donning a photo bib this year? This girl. Last year was exciting and I learned a lot, but photographing races really isn't for me. I like people a little better. I'm itching to spread my wings. Call me.

Anyhoo, I would love for everyone to have a great week. Stay beautiful, friends.

Sundae Stroll

Hello! I have a few posts that I'm working on. One of them is from when my sister and I put henna on our hair. I would have liked to have this one published a few days ago but of course that hasn't happened. I'm just trying to get an 'after'  picture of me, but nothing is cooperating. I'm finishing up my last photo skills post, but I'm having issues there too. Lots of behind the scenes. I'm just going to keep it simple around here while I lay in bed doing homework.

Stars in her eyes

I stumbled onto The Perfect Pear blog a few days and found an awesome diy. I'm sure there are a zillion other great diys, but I'm still exploring the blog. This one is quick and I suggest jumping on it before Picnik closes. In her post Lauren shows you how to create a galaxy silhouette.
Hers looks so much better than mine, but this was my first go around with it. Pretty cool, huh?

Under Construction

Hey gals (and guys) the blog is under construction today. "But you just gave it a makeover a month ago!" I know, and that helped motivate me to write. The last update did the job, but I've learned a few new tricks and I'm ready to climb to the next level. You see, this blog is an outlet for me. I write a lot for school, sometimes I want to write for school and other times I want to write for myself. I write for myself here. I also view this blog as practice for when I start my book. This blog will also become an escape for when I need a break from my book. So since the blog will be under construction for the day, here are some pictures to looks at!

These photos were taken with a Canon Xsi and a Diana+ 20mm fisheye lens. The fisheye effect isn't prevalent, but the soft toy lens feel is still there. All of these awesome photo layouts and tape bits are from the talented Katrina from Pugly Pixel. I just finished downloading Photoshop yesterday and let's just say I'm a fast learner. Hope you all are having a great weekend (I'm battling the sniffles as I type).

#febphotoskill Days 1-7

Is anyone else doing the #febphotoskill challenge? I decided to do this one instead of the the photo challenge similar to January's. Anyone else getting frustrated by the people who mix up the hashtags? Ugh... I feel like such a snob. Whoops! Here are the first 7 days:
1. Line // 2. Shadow // 3. Portrait
4. Pattern // 5. Landscape // 6. Motion // 7. Shape

Have you blogged about any of yours? Lemme see! (link up below)

FYI: the hashtag is in fact #febphotoskill, I just made a typo.

Animal Kingdom

Last weekend Chris and I made a trip over to Orlando. On Friday, we spent 2 hours at Animal Kingdom before heading over to Oblivion Taproom for a few drinks. We were at Animal Kingdom long enough to snap some photos and for me to go love on/pets the goats. I love goats. Here are some of the photos I posted on instagram:

I didn't bring my camera with me into the park, but Chris did. I'll direct everyone to his post when he's gone through the photos he took.
We went to Magic Kingdom on Saturday and I ran around with my Diana+ 20mm Fisheye. I don't have a full frame camera but in some photos the effect is present. I'll post some of those in a day or 2. I rode Space Mountain and we went on Haunted Mansion. Big Thunder Mountain was down for refurbishing so we couldn't go on it. The Swiss Family Robinson tree house has re-opened and it looks amazing. You'll see, I took some photos (so keep and eye out!)

Smile :)

So, I've obviously been missing from the blogging world but there were a few blogs that I did keep up with. My favorites. Well, since I've been back I've kept up with them even better but a few slipped through the cracks. This one and this one. Yep. My Girl Thursday and Love Elycia. Their posts were announcing a craft night and the materials we would need for last night. I saw the reminder posts for craft night late yesterday evening and panicked. I wanted to do this project but I didn't have half of the materials! Well, since I'm a clever girl I decided to just go with what I had. I used grey jersey, blue corduroy, a little velvet and some pink felt. I ran it all through the sewing machine but the next one I make there are parts I think I'd rather hand-sew. With Valentine's Day approaching (a little more than 2 weeks!) I decided to put a heart on the lens. The first one I made was for Chris. He loves cameras. He's a photographer and actually just had a camera tattoo done yesterday. I'm very proud of the work he has done and I'm so thankful that Chantilly and Elycia posted this awesome sewing project!

{clearly my embroidery could use some work}

Anyhoo, here are the links to take a look at if you want to make one too. I wasn't able to make it for the video stream, so I missed how it was supposed to go together exactly but I went with my gut and it worked out (big sentence over).
Pattern: Love Elycia/ My Girl Thursday
Craft night video (the how to). It's about 2 1/2 hours long!

Derp.

The 2nd week of December we went downtown to take some photos. We completely forgot the tripod and the remote so we didn't get a (real) group shot. We still got some really nice ones, we got some "eh" ones and then we got these:
What's going on with our faces?
::blink::
Too close, Trinket!
We were going for classic profiles, but these 2 goofed.
Ew.
This was our only group photo. Obviously the 50mm was too close for a self-portrait.

Just a few outtakes but I thought it would be fun to share the not so perfect ones. Actually, I think these are perfect because they capture what Chris, Trinket and I look like most of the time!

Sundae Stroll

Since this is the first Sunday to come up since I've started blogging again I thought I would post a few photos from one of my recent trips downtown. I took these using the XSi and the Diana+ 110mm Telephoto lens. This is just a glimpse of the USF St. Pete campus.

Anyhoo, everyone have a relaxing Sundae!
