Fill in the Blanks Wednesday!

1. My most prized possession is my education. I am very thankful that I've been able to go to college. My education is something no one can ever take from me and I can always add to it to make it even better!

2. If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be 25. This seems like a pretty good age. I also want to continue to look 25 for the rest of my life. I don't want to look old and saggy and only be 25 years old!

3. The best way to spend a weekend is at Disney World! I love that place and it never gets old :3 Or, if a trip to Orlando isn't possible, the perfect weekend starts with a few craft beers on Friday night, Saturday is for sleeping in and picking up the house and hanging out with my honey. Sunday is the best day for lunch at Five Guys downtown and then a walk to Daddy Kool records. OR lunch a Five Guys closer to home and a trip to International mall in Tampa.

4. My outlook on life is it should be fun, because it only happens once. I'm never going to get yesterday back. So if something isn't fun, I won't do it. Of course there are un-fun things we have to do (taxes, funerals, waxing etc) but if we didn't have a few sad or un-fun moments we would all take the fun we do have for granted. If it isn't fun, don't do it! Find a job you love and you'll never work again.

5. If you want to annoy me just interrupt me when I'm speaking. Actually, that's if you want to die. If you're only looking to annoy me, post a quote someone on facebook and don't give the author proper credit... or 'like' everything I say.

6. I am completely defenseless when it comes to baby animals, chocolate, a bottle of wine just for me, CUPCAKES, just about anything pink sparkly or kawaii. 2 words. Hello Kitty.

7. When dressing for the day one should start with lotion. I hate dry skin :l

My fur babies ---2

This post is a continuation from a previous one about my zoo.....

.....A few days after I graduated with my AA we were in the pet store and I fell for a little grey and tan kitten. I loved her from the minute I layed eyes on her. No sooner had I made the biggest puppy eyes at Chris, she was out of the cage and in my arms. It took about a week to name her, such a psychotic personality! I ended up naming her Cheetara. This little girl talks all the time. Meow, meow to herself, the wall, me, the refrigerator...everything! Cheetara haa a twitter account... @CheetaraMarie check her out! She doesn't have as much time to tweet as much as she used to. Also, when she learned that twitter didn't actually involve any real birds she lost interest.
A few months later we figured out that Cheetara was a "Mama's girl" and Chris, the cat-lover started feeling left out. I suggested that he go look at kitties while I was in an evening class and we'd go from there. I got a phone call that night about a little black kitten without a tail. I got out of class early that night and we raced back to the pet store to see the kitten together. I could tell Chris was smitten, but since we didn't have the cat carrier with us, the kitty had to spend one more night in the store. The next morning I woke up early, on my day off school! to go get the little kitty. I got to spend the entire day with him until Chris came home from work (he was so jealous and excited all at the same time). In the end, the kitten was names Cinque, after a car. Chris insists that Cinque, or Chinky, is made of carbon fiber (the sleek black fur) and is a racing machine. Cinque is also a manx so when he runs it's more of a hop!
Both cats get along great with the ferrets. We let them play with each other as soon as we brought them home (well, kind of. Both of the cats were sick when we adopted them, so when they were better they met the ferts). All of them have a healthy respect for the vacuum cleaner, except Sashimi. Everyone runs from the vacuum, Shimi war dances and zig-zags at it. Crazy girl!

That's it for the fuzzies! Lizards and turtles next!

My fur babies ---1

I love animals. I even have a few. In fact, between Chris and I we could open a mini zoo! Haha I'm going to have to break this up into a few posts!
My first fur baby is Swift Fox, or Swift for short. He is about 2 1/2 years old and while he isn't the first ferret I've ever had, he is the first one I never had to share! (Until our little family grew). I adopted Swift in November '08 and he immediately became my best friend. He loves treats, fuzzy slippers and toes! About a month later I moved into my own apartment and Swift had little company while I was in classes during the day, so he and I started looking for a friend for him. That's when we found:
Sassafras! Or for short, Sassy. She is so sweet and teeny. I consider her a rescue because the "kid" I got her from never spent time with her and didn't feed her properly. He never even named her! I named her halfway over the Gandy bridge. She was skin, fur and bones when she came home to meet Swift! She took a little time to get used to me, but became fast friends with Swift (he's so charming). I'm not sure how old Sassy is exactly but if I had to guess I'd say she's a few months younger than Swifty. She is such a treat-hog, so don't leave them laying around. Oh and raisins.... don't even let her hear the word!
One day in December '09 I was in the pet store and overheard the sales girl talking about a ferret who had been living at the store for almost a year. She was never adopted and since she wasn't a tiny kit anymore it was less likely that she would find a home. No one seemed to want her, except me! I called Chris and told him about her and next thing I knew I was the proud mother of a little girl ferret (again). As soon as I got her home I knew she was going to be wild. It took 2 weeks to find a name as silly as she is. Chris and I named her Sashimi. She loves digging.

I smell great!

I've been thinking of a lot of ideas lately for posts I'd like to do and one of them is smells. Scents can remind us of people, places and old memories. These are of a few of my scent memories:

The first thing I think of when I smell Irish Spring soap is my father. I mean my Daddy. That's what I call him. It smells good. My Daddy is a very smart guy and I think know I get my brains from him!

Ahhhh Cucumber Melon from Bath & Body Works. My high school reeked of this scent AND Warm Vanilla Sugar (that one was my favorite back then.) This one always reminds me of my friends at the beginning of my freshman year in high school. Ps This smell also reminds me of my friend Fawn from back in the day because she always wore it.

This next yummy smell is also from high school! I love Country Apple, another BBW scent. Why I never bought it until after high school I will never know. Haha If it can be said that I hoard anything.... I hoard Country Apple! I have about 5 bottles of the lotion and probably 4 of the shower gels...

In January of my senior year I started working at Victoria's Secret. I fell in love with Pretty In Pink. This scent always makes me think of the beautiful opera-like music that they used to play in the VS stores. It also makes me think of the house I lived in and all my crazy roommates that I had at the time. Fun times. (This is such an old tube, but it still smells great! Lucky for me it was brought out of retirement!)

That same year after graduation I started working at The Gap too. It was literally across from the VS in the mall. I always were Heaven, my friend Hallie wore Dream and Daphne wore So Pink. Hallie and Daph also worked at The Gap, but they left for college before I started working there. Heaven reminds me of new clothes and Starbucks. Every time I wear it I remember re-folding the denim wall at work!

I don't wear this one very much anymore. The bottle doesn't stand up anymore either because I left it in my car on a sunny day. The sun warped the bottle. whoops! The reason I don't wear this one, Romantic Wish by Victoria's Secret, is because I wore this lotion when I was at Ft. Dix training for Iraq. That was a tough and tiring time for me. 16 hour training days. Outside, hot, summer. This smell always brings me back to my bunk in Jersey. I missed home, but not the house my stuff was in back home. I was kind of lost. I actually couldn't wait to get to Iraq. Now this smell reminds me of long days and the loneliness I felt in my gut everyday. Sure, my ex was there with me (we were together at the time) but he was a piece of trash. I knew it at the time, I just thought I needed someone. Pshh I didn't. I wish I could go back and slap myself!

Love Spell! This scent is one of, if not the most popular scent from VS. I started wearing this lotion towards the end of my tour in Iraq. I loved how it smelled and everyone else appreciated how I smelled too. I felt like the air freshener in every room I walked into! This smell took awhile for me to start wearing again when I came home. It reminded me of Iraq and I just wanted to forget it for awhile. I did wear Love Spell the first night I met my boyfriend and on our first few dates. The scent made me feel strong. I was strong enough to make it through Iraq, I could get through a date! Now the memories of our first dates are starting to overshadow Iraq.

Last, Country Chic is the newest scent from BBW. They're only selling the small sizes right now, but it comes out in a few weeks. I just picked this up last night. It smelled nice in the store so I pick up 2 lotions and a splash. When I smelled it again at home away from the millions of other smells at BBW, I was stunned! It smells wonderful. It smells like the summer of 1996. Haha It reminded me of mine and my sister's friend Lauren. Lauren, in my mind is picture of country chic. The light airy scent reminded me of the summer we spent hanging out with Lauren at her house and in the backyard.

Everything is a remix

There's nothing like having all the blood rush to your head! That's what it feels like when someone makes me so mad and I can't say anything back! Oh, well. I'm sure somebody will read this and that gives me the last laugh. Just keep in mind, everything is a remix. Vague right? I'm trying not to say something really mean. If you think about it though....everything is a remix. Everything changes and evolves from one mind to the next. Everyone has a different spin on everything. So get used to it. Did you know the first hot dog was actually made out of peanut butter? It was peanut butter shaped like what we now call a hot dog. It was used in a hospital for patients on a special diet. Now hot dogs are made from all kinds of animal parts. Heck there are even vegan dogs all over again. See what I mean? How things change from one person to the next? No one really owns the concept of the hot dog.

26 is the new 40!

Apparently. Today in my Spanish class we were discussing the difference between the preterit and imperfect tenses of verbs and to demonstrate my professor asked me (I always sit in the front) how old I was.

Profesora Leyton: ¿Cuántos años tienes? (How old are you?)
Me: veintiséis. (26)
Profesora Leyton: ¿Cuántos años tenías en dos mil? (How old were you in 2000?)
Me: quince. (15.) (I turned 16 later that year.)

After this exchange, the girl behind my tapped my shoulder and said, "Wow. You're 26?" (nods) Yep. Then she said, "You look good for 26!"-----Wait what?!?! She said it as if she had just found out I was ancient.

I literally just took this picture (hardly any make up today. Just a smidge of mascara!):

Does she expect to look any different in 6-7 years than she does now? I'm assuming she is 19-20 since this is only her second semester of college. Assumptions, hmmmm.

This was me about 8 years ago (Don't mind the tongue, I was tasting scented markers):

Not really a huge difference. Sure I lost some of my baby face, but hey! 8 years in the military is going to show some how! I should be used to this by now. Almost every semester I have been in college the people around me, including teachers are surprised how "old" I am. Hello! There are lots of old people in college! I don't think I look old, but it makes me wonder.... should I look older?

I've decided that I look as old I should. I came into some really great genes when I was born. My aunt is only 42 and could definitely pass for 30! I'd post her picture, but I don't think she'd appreciate that, even on facebook her profile picture is of a cute bear. So, you'll just have to take my word for it.

Now, then. This old lady has some homework to do! xoxo

Lalalalalaaaa

I don't feel like doing anything else for the rest of the day! We went to the Oldsmar flea market this morning, then to Countryside mall. Nothin' good. We came home long enough for me to pour a glass of wine and then left again! I barely had 2 sips! (p.s. I wasn't driving) Then we went downtown to Daddy Kool to pick up this guy:

I haven't gotten any other pictures of it yet, just one with the fun instagram app on my phone.

After Daddy Kool we stopped by the Taco Bus here in St. Pete. Apparently there is one in Tampa too. This was our first visit. I had the vegan 'steak' taco. Yum! I was very pleased. Next time I'd like to try the butternut squash tostada.

I'm off to work on this glass of wine and finish a book! xoxo :p.... (raspberries)

How to wreck St. Patrick's Day

Ok, where to start. We'll start with the minute I got out of my car downtown. I was wearing dark jeans and of course, a green shirt. It had bunnies on it in the shape of the symbol for infinity. Plus an earring with a green feather. I was set. Not wearing anything out of the norm. As soon as I stepped out of my car, I fed the meter a dime because there were still 10 minutes to 8. Most parking spots downtown are only metered until 8.

Anyhoo, when I got out of my car, there were 2 dudes across the street in normal college guy attire. Shorts, grey surf shirt and flip flops. Only they had green foam statue of liberty headbands on. Apparently a tax service was handing them out. Now keep in mind, it is 7:50 pm, they asked me if I had change for a dollar so they could put quarters in the machine. Hello, idiots! Read! There's a sticker on the machine that would've have saved me the brain cells I wasted explaining this to them!

With that over with, I walked to my destination... Durty Nelly's for a pint of Guinness and to see Not Tonight Josephine. They went on at 9, so I was dead bored until then. Last night I actually heard a song from a local band (that I think fashions themselves after Flobots, not sure) called "Drink Until You're Wasted." Wow, great message for spring break! I'm on it!

I spent my time watching all the drunks around me because it's fun. Korean girl: "I'm soooo drunk!" Her friends (in an irritated tone): "Yes. You are." Korean girl: "That makes me Irish!" No honey.

Then there was the fashion. Why does fashion go to shit on St. Patrick's day? Jeans and a green shirt are sufficient people! Yes, wear your green beads, tiaras and funny bow/neck ties. Leave your shamrock pjs, ill-fitting short sun dresses, wacky socks (that don't match anything else you're wearing), and school girl outfit with spike heels at home. No one gets this retarded for any other holiday. Also, I don't really feel like anyone should have to say this anymore, but after last night... We all know that big girls are beautiful too. I'm not saying they aren't. BUT! If you are a big girl, please wear clothes that fit you. Cottage cheese belongs in the refrigerator, not out in the open at concerts. Please wear flattering clothes, you'll draw less attention to your flub and more attention to the more pleasing parts, ie: your face....or personality(?). I have a bit of chub around my hips, who doesn't but you will never catch me with a muffin top, unless I'm eating it. Ist das klar (is that clear)?

Not Tonight Josephine was great by the way. They played 2 new songs and looked sooo proud of them selves. I will say, David (their singer) looks like he dyed his hair black. Now he looks like Stuart Townsend when he was in Resurrection Man (great movie and book). Not a bad thing. During their set, I had issues with the 30-something in the school girl outfit and spike heels. She kind of looked like Janet from The Muppets. How do I know she was 30-something, or more? I'm 26 (and a half) and I have no wrinkles (I get carded for everything! Even hairspray...). Maybe she just partied really hard. Who cares, anyhoo, she charged right to the front of the stage where I was, bumped into me and then started "dancing" in front of me. Very drunk. I told her to move her ass. She did. Haha, I love being fierce!

I only went to see NTJ because the bf was at home sick. I tried to be smooth (for who, I don't know) and down the last 3 sips of my Guinness. Yep. Spilled a little. doh! I had a long walk to the car and it was 10. Next year I will bring a camera to document these drunkards!

My creative day

Well, I did bust out the sculpey and a few feathers today. I made 2 little bunnies and I changed the design a little. I'll paint the whiskers on tomorrow. Also, I made a jackalope pendant. Yes, a jackalope.

The 2 little white bunnies might become necklaces, we'll see. Or they might end up being rings. The jackalope is definitely getting some eyes and whiskers. I'll make a few more charms for the necklace he'll go on tomorrow.

I started a feather earring today too, but my heart just wasn't in it. I decided if my heart wasn't there, then it would not be nearly as pretty or special. A sale might get my creative thoughts flowing again... wink. I might take another stab at the flea market, but on a Saturday. For sure.

I really do like Jackalopes. I'd like a kitschy fake one on a wall mount like you see in hunting lodges. I even have a spot for it! For now I'll settle for this:

Going to try that sleep thing...

I feel as though I have been neglecting this blog. Maybe I will do something creative tomorrow and share it with the world. This weekend was full of beating my head against the Norton Anthology of English Lit. I finished a take home exam too. Yippee!

I still have to finish 2 books and write about them by next week. I tried to read tonight, but this time change thing is messing with me. I'm tired and wide awake at the same time. My poor sick boyfriend is fast asleep, or as fast asleep as he can be whilst kicking a cold in its patoot. I also haz munchies. My inner fat girl needs to calm down because I am not feeding her until tomorrow.

Yesterday I did get to go shopping. Kind of. I used my groupon at Barnes & Noble. I picked up Porno by Irvine Welsh. It is kind of a sequel to Trainspotting and not available for my kindle. Since I still had another $6 to spend I  pick up The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Whether it is available on my kindle or not, I do not care. haha. Of course I won't get to read either of these until the middle of May, or possibly in August. Or after I graduate. Sad face.

I'm going to try that sleep thing now.

Posting on Etsy

I thought since I only had a few items on Etsy, I'd move some things over from Storenvy. It seems the only attention my shop on Storenvy is getting is from other sellers looking at it from the forum! Also, a few of my pieces on Etsy have gotten a few likes and hearts. I thought, maybe I might have a little more luck over there. After all, Etsy is known for handmade and vintage. Now before you go calling me wishy-washy, everything is for sale somewhere and if you want to buy it check both shops. I need to get some things moving. I've gotten too many compliments, but not enough interested enough to purchase. I just don't think the right people have seen my work yet. Here goes!

In other news! It was almost a mail day. The rings supplies I ordered a month ago finally came in BUT the stupid male man we have won't leave packages in our mail box no matter HOW small they are. We were both home even and he still left a "pick up" card. Idiot. I like our normal mail lady. She leaves us our small packages. I hope the idiot mail man rips his stupid shorts.

New workspace!

Yea! I went to Ikea today I and bought a workspace for myself. I've been using a tiny round table for homework and making jewelry. While it is a beautiful antique table, it hasn't been working out. Sometimes I use the kitchen table, but then it becomes a messy catch-all. Instead of buying a desk, I went to the scratch-and-dent section and bought something that looks like it was supposed to be a desk or maybe the side of a shelving unit. It's finished white and it is 29.5X49 inches. I don't know. All I know is it fits nicely over top the little round table.
I wasn't too bad in Ikea. I could easily spend more than 4 people earn in one year there. I bought the desktop, 3 little stuffed toys for Cinque and Cheetara, a candle and a bath mat. Oh and a mat to work with sculpey and not ruin the new desk AND a tea leaf thingy. Well, done. Go me!

Nap time is over

I'm hoping there wasn't a huge disappointed tone in my last post. I was and still am very disappointed, but I definitely don't want to pull anyone else's mood down with me. *thinking happy thoughts*

Since nothing sold today, everything's is still in stock in both the Storenvy and Etsy shops. I do have a few new pieces to take pictures of and post, but I'll do that when I'm feeling better. I'm still bummed out. Heck, everything is still in the boot of my car!

I have a bunch of homework to do this week so I don't see myself making anything new for a few days.

*sigh* dinner?

Round 1: Flea market 1, Jenny 0

Last night I had everything all packed up and ready to go out the door this morning, see?

After I got everything set up this morning I finished a few earrings I had already started and waited for the market to open to the public.

As you can tell from the score above, I didn't score. Lots of people looked and my work received a lot of compliments. I'll try again on a Saturday in a few weeks and see how it goes.

Don't forget to stop my my facebook page for a special discount at my Storenvy shop, hellosundae.storenvy.com

Tumblr...

I opened a tumblr account today. Don't expect me to use it though! It is so confusing and I can't figure anything out! If you want to find me, click here. Don't laugh.

big plans for sunday...

Alright, then! I'm headed to the flea market sooner than I thought. I'll be at the Wagon Wheel in Pinellas Park on Sunday. I decided to go ahead and rent a booth. Chris will be out of town for an exotic car event that day and I'll be all alone. I'd go along, but I'm not fond of the way the guy giving the event handled things with Chris. Don't get me within spitting distance!

Anyhoo, back to the flea market. I'll have a covered booth because there is a really good chance for rain. I think the next time I will definitely sell outside, weather permitting. The woman I spoke with on the phone said outside booths are where it's at! I just don't want to chance rain. Besides, if it rains where's everyone going to go? Inside. Haha just like Disney World. The best time EVER to get on busy rides is during the parades and when it's raining.

White night!

Tonight after class I decided to work with white sculpey first before any other color. Silly me always starts messing around with white sculpey after I've been using colors such as green, black or red. Or any color really. It is so hard sometimes to scrub every scrap of sculpey off of your fingers and hands, so when you start with another color especially white or yellow, you end up with streaks!

Soooo.........I used only white tonight and then a teeensy scrap of light pink. I made 3 white roses (and then threw one away. I made the petals to thin and I broke it on the way out of the oven. Whoops!), 2 white bows and a cute little bunny.

I was going to move onto another light color, but honestly I'm tuckered out. The bunny and the bows are in the oven now and when they come out I'm grabbing a book off the shelf and heading to bed. What book? Hard Times by Charles Dickens.

Hopefully I'll have more ring bases in tomorrow and these new lovelies along with the pearly green roses and bows from last night will go up on Storenvy. I'll also post some pictures here too. 'Night white sculpey!

Sculpey snakes!

Or are they?...

hahaha No this is the little square of glass I use when I'm making lil' baubles when I'm watching t.v. I don't get a lot of t.v. watchin' done though. My eyes are usually on the sculpey. Boo for no Glee tonight!

I'm off to get a little homework done!
